Description

The MedioVis-Team is proud to have won the third place of this year's IEEE InfoVis Contest 2007:

With the MedioVis-based "Blockbuster" system the team from the Human-Computer Interaction Group of Prof. Reiterer participated successfully in the contest and will present their work and receive their certificate in October in Sacramento.

After last year's great success of students and researchers from Prof. Keim's group (1st place 2006) the Department of Computer and Information Science from Konstanz could score again in the contest.

With "Blockbuster" the team of Prof. Reiterer adapted the MedioVis system and enhanced it with a combination of different visualization techniques (e.g. zoomable tables, scatter plots, social networks, parallel bargrams) for analysis and sensemaking of data about movies, movie revenues, budgets, actors, producers and similar Hollywood-related data.

The resulting system can be seen "in action" as a video on the project's web site at http://hci.uni-konstanz.de/Blockbuster. More about the IEEE InfoVis Contest at http://conferences.computer.org/infovis/infovis2007/contest.html.
