Description

Visual data mining extends data mining with the powerful perceptual abilities of humans. Involving the human has several impacts on how to design visual data mining environments. The aim is to design environments that supports and does not bias users’ performance. Research is required to map user performance as a function of properties and features of influencing factors, like visual properties of the data, of the display and also user characteristics. The current presentation aims to provide a research framework that allows investigations of influencing factors on performance in visual data mining. Research in this field is reviewed and new results of empirical studies will be presented. Future trends and open research questions are suggested.
