Welcome to the Human-Computer Interaction Group

Our goal is to conceive, develop and evaluate novel concepts for human-computer interaction that dissolve the user interface as a barrier between real and virtual, and instead allow the user to seamlessly transition between different realities. We call this extended form of interaction “Embodied Cross-Reality Interaction” and the supporting user interfaces “Transitional Interfaces.” Such interfaces support crossing between different realities: from being in the physical world and using our existing cognitive and bodily skills, to gradually moving into a virtual reality with more advanced or “magical” skills, and back again.

Exhibition "Zukunftsbilder" at MS Wissenschaft

At this year’s exhibition "MS Wissenschaft" the SFB-TRR 161 shows an interactive table that presents the different research topics of various researchers of the SFB.

The "MS Wissenschaft" is an exhibition ship that steers through Germany and stops at different locations. This year’s topic is “Arbeitswelten der Zukunft” (work environments of the future). Therefore, the table playfully invites visitors to learn ideas, visions, and results of researchers of the SFB-TRR 161 in the exhibition piece “Zukunftsbilder” (pictures of the future). The table was developed by Daniel Fink, Ulrike Pfeil and Johannes Zagermann from our workgroup in collaboration with Tina Barthelmes and Claudia Widmann from the SFB-TRR 161. The exhibition can be visited from May 15 until October 9 at different cities in Germany. All locations and dates of the tour can be found here: https://ms-wissenschaft.de/ausstellung/tour-2018/

We are happy to show some impressions of this week’s opening ceremony:
